What do you mean by “Fresh Food”?

When we say “Fresh Food,” we mean meals that are prepared using real, whole ingredients in small batches to preserve freshness and nutrients. It also means that we are staying away from preservatives, additives, colorants, fillers, and all the other nonsense that you find in commercial pet food.

How do you formulate your recipes?

All Sniff Sniff recipes are formulated by certified pet nutritionists using FEDIAF 2022 Guidelines guaranteeing complete and balanced meals for canine and feline adult maintenance. Our experts ensure that our meals exceed AAFCO standards for commercial pet food.

Does your food meet AAFCO standards?

Absolutely! In fact, we exceed their standards for commercial pet food.

Can I mix different meals from Sniff Sniff?

Of course you can! We invite you to mix things up on different days to diversify flavors and provide other nutrients for your pet.

Can’t I just make this at home myself?

You could, but you wouldn’t be able to tell if your pet is getting the exact nutrients they need without consulting with a board-certified veterinary nutritionist. As such, your pets could suffer from serious complications related to nutrient deficiencies or excess from meals that are not properly balanced.

At Sniff Sniff, our meals are prepared by expert certified veterinary nutritionists who are saving you the time, effort, and research needed to make perfectly balanced and complete meals for your pets. Additionally, our pre-portioned meals and our feeding charts help ensure you’re always feeding the right amount without any guesswork or mental math.

How do I store Sniff Sniff meals?

Your freshly made Sniff Sniff meals will be delivered to your home frozen and should be stored in the freezer as soon as it arrives. Frozen meals can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months. To start feeding your pets from them, all you need to do is defrost the food bag in the refrigerator (around 24hrs) and never over the counter in room temperature. Once it has thawed, it will last for up to 3 days before going bad – remember our food is fresh unlike other processed foods and it will rot – if it doesn’t rot, it isn’t real!

Why should I switch to Sniff Sniff?

The answer is simple, your pets deserve real food just like you do! It is important that you see commercial pet food as fast food for humans. If you ate fast food at every meal, what would happen to your body? Now you know what you are doing to your pets.

With Sniff Sniff you are able to see how much lean protein, carbohydrates, and clean fat your pets are getting in their meals. When you switch to better quality food for your pets you will experience fewer vet visits, shinier coats, healthier digestion, and less of that pet odor.

How do I introduce Sniff Sniff meals to my pet?

Cats and dogs, much like their humans, are quite the creatures of habit, especially with their diet. With that in mind, you need to know that switching from the processed kibble or wet foods that your pets have been eating for so long, to freshly made foods, it is vital to take the necessary steps for a smooth transition.

Typically, we recommend a transition of seven days minimum. During each one of these days, you will progressively introduce the new food, adding more of Sniff Sniff’s fresh meals each day.

Here’s what that could look like for you and your pet:

Days 1 & 2: 25% Sniff Sniff meal and 75% old diet

Days 3 & 4: 50% Sniff Sniff meal and 50% old diet

Days 5 & 6: 75% Sniff Sniff meal and 25% old diet

Day 7 onwards: 100% Sniff Sniff meals

If you find that your pet is not one hundred percent settled with the new equation you introduce, take a step back and spend another day with the same plate division before moving forward. Also, make sure to monitor your pets closely during this time and inform your vet of anything unusual.

How do I know if the food is right for my pet?

When you introduce Sniff Sniff to your pets slowly (7+ day transition process), it is imperative that you monitor his/her progress and any changes to their behavior, skin, fur, and digestion. During this time, and with guidance from your trusted veterinarian, you will be able to tell if the food is right for your pet.

Do I need to consult my vet before switching to Sniff Sniff?

Sudden changes in their food and diet can cause our pets gastrointestinal issues, which is why we recommend speaking with your veterinarian to help guide you through this phase.

Chances are, your trusted vet will tell you that it is important to slowly introduce new foods and give their body the time it needs to adjust.
